How to Use Pantone's 2017 Color of the Year in Your Next Event
Living in South Florida, we’re no strangers to the positive feelings green fosters. So when Pantone announced “Greenery” as the color of the year for 2017, we figured that the rest of the world probably needed a little dose of that positivity too! With that in mind, we sat down with KE’s Brooke Wilson, Design + Production Guru, and got her input on ideas to incorporate this vibrant color into your next event.
According to Brooke, the most important thing with a strong color, like Greenery, is to have pops of it in order to create the best overall look. Today’s décor world surprisingly has a multitude of choices for bright pieces. We love the more comfortable updated grass chair and the highboy low-back stool. Other great options to add style include custom fabric sofas and the versatile steel stools.
Stylist note, for a warmer look, incorporate browns and tans.
An obvious choice (Flowers? Duh.) we know, but there are so many different looks you can create using the color of nature and renewal. Orchids, Mums and Dianthus are a few of our top green floral choices while various grasses and moss can be used for a calming outdoor look. And of course, you can always #GoGreen with reusable succulents!
Stylist note, use a white container to create a fresh look or choose black for a more dramatic flair.
Greenery abounds in linens, which isn’t surprising as a color that invites calm. And isn’t that an ideal feeling, sitting down to enjoy a meal or cocktail? The KE team is notorious for mixing linens, and with Greenery, Brooke suggests choosing a fun, patterned linen and balancing it with an upgraded, non-patterned linen like a Sedona to keep things interesting without overwhelming the eye.
Stylist note, if you need to stay budget-friendly, stick with hotel whites, but upgrade your napkins to bring the table to life for a minimal cost.
“I love pillows,” Brooke says. “It’s a really easy way to introduce Greenery into your event, and stay budget conscious.” And it definitely is! White sofas are of course an easy choice, but green is an adaptable color that can complement a multitude of base shades. Use it to brighten up greys and blues or go unexpected with orange or purple!
Stylist note, mix patterns with solids and put your pillows everywhere. Because “fewer pillows!” said no one ever.
